Pre sale Festival Passes are encourage for catering. Special family passes available, please click over to our ticketing page. 

 

\\TRAVEL OPTIONS

Kakadu Billabong is located 318kms from Darwin off the Kakadu HWY (mostly sealed road, until you reach the turn off) All wheel drive access subject to weather. 

Although we have the whole Kakadu National Park for our back yard. Limited space is cleared around the Safari Camp. 2 Car spaces per camp site with over flow parking available. 

\\FESTIVAL ACCESS PASS - PERMIT

You must pay to enter the festival. Please see our Festival Pass page for pricing.

Permits are not required to attend Mayali Mulil for the Festival weekend. You can enter the community from 2pm Friday September 7th and must leave by 1pm Sunday 9th.

CAN I PAY WITH EFTPOS - Payment by cash on site. No Pass no entry! Eftpos maybe available at the Main Office, but we ask that you pre purchase your Pass, if eftpos is down you can get cash out at Cooinda a drive away. 

CAN I BUY A ONE DAY PASS - We encourage people to stay at the event for the whole weekend. If leaving at night PLEASE DRIVE SLOWLY and be aware there can be wandering stock including buffalo. We caution against driving at night due to livestock and other hazards.

ARE KIDS FREE - Children under 14 years are free, all children must have an adult present with them at all times. 

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN MY FESTIVAL PASS - Entry, camping, free activities, concerts and amenities.

WHAT'S NOT INCLUDED IN MY FESTIVAL PASS

- The Workshops are not included, these are paid 3 hour workshops, run by the traditional owners, our elders and families. With a wealth of knowledge we encourage you to book in and support the community even more so. 

- Meals are not included. You can purchase dinner on Friday and Saturday. Bush Tucker Goose Stews, BBQ meats. From $10 a plate. Payment by cash only on purchase. No Vegeterian meals are available. 

\\FESTIVAL DIRT ROAD ACCESS - SINGLE DIRT ROAD

The Safari Camp dirt road from Murdudjurl Main Office to the Festival grounds is a single dirt road. Cars must drive with caution and courtesy to other drivers passing by. Pull over to inbound traffic where possible. NO Parking or stopping on Festival roads at anytime. There are no round abouts or traffic lights in our back yard. HIGH CLEARANCE VEHICLES 

\\RE-ENTRY 

CAN I COME AND GO - All guests and staff must present your self to the Main Office or Safari Camp Box Office to be signed in and out, this is to ensure everyones safety around the crocodile infested river systems, You must wear your wristband at all times.

\\SINGLE USE PLASTIC FREE - NO WASTE 

  • Please bring your own WATER and reusable BOTTLE

  • No Rubbish - take yours back with you

  • NO SINGLE USE PLASTIC IN THE NATIONAL PARK!

  • 20 L water containers full of water! – You will need plenty of water for drinking, cooking and cleaning. There are no common taps.

  • Water bottle.

\\WHAT DO I BRING

  • Camping gear – you need to be self-sufficient. Tents, bedding, chairs, food, water, eskies;

  • Torches and lighting for the evening;

  • Sun protection – broad brimmed hat, sun screen, umbrella;

  • Extra shade for your camp ground area

  • Cash – anticipate your needs for the weekend. Our Box Office will be selling offical merchandise t shirts and arts and crafts from $15, you can also purchase Meals the Bush Tucker Experience for reasonable prices. 

  • Medication and first aid

  • Food (if self-catering) – you can stock up in Coolalinga on the way.

\\CAMPING

Un-powered camping areas available. Festival staff will direct you to these areas. If camping doesn’t appeal there are 10 Safari style tents at the grounds subject to availability, or the hotel/motel options in Cooinda or Jabiru. While we have estimated the amount of campers, our sites are being made especially for the Festival. Shade is available but not all sites will be completely shaded.

CAN I HAVE A FIRE IN MY CAMP GROUND SITE - Yes but you must bring your own fire wood, only use the open area of your site for fires. We are surrounded by dry bush land. Use allocated communal fire places, share with your neighbours. Fire safety comes 1st. 

\\BOX OFFICE - MERCHANDISE - FOOD STALLS

Festival Box Office will be selling official 2018 merchandise, t shirts, arts and crafts. Food stalls selling bush tucker Friday Dinner, Saturday Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner, Sunday Breakfast Sorry no EFTPOS

\\FISHING 

NO Fishing permited unless accompanied by one of our trained guides. The waters edge poses serious risk of a crocodile attack. Designated ares for fishing, you must stay with the guide at all times. Any fish caught the guide will determine whether to catch and release the fish or keep it to be be cooked up for the Bush Tucker Experience.

Fish at own risk. LURES only... NO hooks. 

\\ACTIVITIES & WORKSHOPS  

Activities on the program are free, Workshops start from $45, duration 3 to 4 hours and are for ages 14yrs and over. Young children can accompany an adult at no cost. Workshops must be pre paid or by cash at the Festival Box Office. Wristband and ticket must be presented to the workshop staff member. Please make it known you have paid. 

 

\\CATERING AVAILABLE - BUSH TUCKER EXPERIENCE - BREAKFAST

Mayali Mulil Festival 2018 has a healthy food policy so you wont be finding any servo meat pies. A variety of food options will be available at BREAKFAST, LUNCH & DINNER, at reasonable prices throughout the Festival. The families stall will serve Cold drinks, tea & coffee, continental breakfast or sandwiches, Goose Stew, BBQ Meats, sausage sizzle. Sorry no or limited vegetarian options.

Support the community by buying locally if you can! 

Drinking water - we suggest you bring water to drink with you. We will have water stations to top up your bottles. Do not get water from the river system!

We have No EFTPOS!

\\TOILETS AND SHOWERS - CAMP GROUNDS

Pitt toilets are brought in for the weekend. Limited water for showers so keep them quick, please use our water supply with this in mind. 

Limited drinking water available.

\\WATER SAFETY - CROCODILES INHABIT THE WATER

Please stay away from the waters edge, stay with in the Festival area. DO NOT SWIM in the water, Crocodiles have been spotted with in the direct areas of Jim Jim Creek and the Billabong. NO water way is completely safe in Kakadu! We must keep count of all guests at all times. So please keep your wristbands on. 

\\COMMUNICATIONS - NO PHONE OR INTERNET ACCESS

No phone or internet access at the Festival. The nearest service location is located about 15kms away at Cooinda Lodge, or in Jabiru.

\\NEAREST CONVENIENCE STORE - PETROL STATION - HEALTH CENTRE - FIRST AID

Conveience store - located at Cooinda Lodge or Jabiru

Petrol station - located at Cooinda Lodge or Jabiru

Health Centre - located 60 kms away at Jabiru. Emergency after hours contact number 89 792 018. Clinic is closed on weekends. 

First AID - First AID kit available from the Safari Camp Box Office, please bring your own if possible. 

\\SECURITY 

No anti social behaviour will be tolerated, a reminder this is an alcohol and drug free event. Any person deemed intoxicated will be refused entry or will be evicted from the festival. 

Belongings - please secure your personal belongings. We take no responsibility for lost or stolen items, a lost and found will be at the Festival Box Office.

\\BEHAVIOUR PROTOCOL

You are guests, please respect the community and stay within festival areas and camping grounds. Dress conservatively and be sun wise. Ask permission to take an individual’s photograph.

\\WRISTBANDS

Wristbands will be issued at the office when you check in and MUST be kept on for the duration of the Festival. This enables Festival staff to manage the big 3 day event, shows you have checked in, that you have registered and paid. Colour wrist bands for each Festival Pass type, also to show Festival Staff they you have registered and paid for a workshop. 

\\ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES

Murdudjurl Kakadu Billabong Safari Camp is a dry community, and the Festival is a strictly drug and alcohol free event. Please note there maybe police checks, your car maybe searched.

\\CALL OUT FOR STALL HOLDERS

We are seeking food, arts and craft stalls from the local Jabiru and greater Darwin areas. 

Limit to how many so please get in touch. 

Stall fee may apply to business's. Is free for non for profit community groups.

Stall holders receive heavily discounted Festival Entry Pass fee.

Unpowered sites.

\\THESE ITEMS ARE PROHIBITED

  • Alcohol and drugs. Mayali Mulil Festival is proudly an alcohol, drug and smoke free event (there are designated smoking areas). 

  • Walky talkies and two way radios. Festival staff use radios for communication and do not want any interference;

  • Generators;

  • Pets (other than guide dogs);

  • Weapons, fireworks and anything else flammable, dangerous or dubious.
